The Remixer Machine

The Remixer Machine is a Visual Thinkery tool which can provide the perfect collaborative activity for creative people. You can use it to create things in the classroom, presentations, T-shirts – all sorts!

It can provide clients a custom platform to create in-house variations of a particular visual template – for example, a digital credential. Or as an icebreaker tool at the start of an online workshop. It’s also been used as a hybrid community participation tool – like sending in a postcard from afar or creating a personal media pass.

Remixer Challenge

The Remixer Machine can become quite fun for exploring a little creative cognition. In this case, producing distorted versions of iconic albums and artworks.

For a recent Visual Thinkery newsletter, our intern remixed ten different famous albums as a challenge to see how many people could guess. It was so interesting to see how the reputation of an image persevered through being reduced to just a few triangles!

Here’s a range of images people have created with The Remixer Machine.

Hat Tip - Remixer Machine

Hat Tip

Back in the old days of social media, h/t was a thing. Being restricted for characters as was the trend then, hat tip became h/t.

Visual Thinkery was doing a little visual thinking about interpersonal recognition for a credentialing workshop with Badge guru Doug Belshaw for the N-TUTORR project. Trying to think of all the ways that humans give recognition to each other. A couple of days after the workshop, whilst talking with Alan Levine about recognition in Open Education for the OEGlobal Podcast, we contrived to build a remixer for humans to digitally hat tip.
